In mountainous areas, erosion can cause a mixing of dissimilar rock strata, which, because of the minerals contained inside, can generate electrical and magnetic fields when mixed with water. The effects of this can be quite profound and can extend for miles. The phyiscal effects are the same as for underground water.
The solution is to either pyhically move your living location, or mitigate the effects of the field.
